Diane Tremaine

A native of Washington State, Diane is a graduate of Indiana University. She received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Cello Performance, studying with Janos Starker.
She is a very active and versatile freelance cellist in the Twin Cities; performing frequently with the Minnesota Orchestra/
Minnesota Opera as a substitute, The Guthrie Theater (as a soloist, and also in small ensembles), Vocalessence, Minnesota Sinfonia (as principal cellist) and for Broadway Musicals. She has played extensively with; The Joffrey Ballet, Houston Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Minnesota Dance Theatre and The Bolshoi Ballet. She has also performed in several productions for; Theatre Latte Da, The Great American History Theatre and Theater Mu. Diane is an active chamber musician and is a co-founder/member of the Alpine String Quartet. Among many other performances in recent years, Diane had the honor of performing in a Schubert Club Courtroom Recital. She also soloed with The Jewish Community Center Orchestra in the Midwest premier of Prayer and Freylach by Lucas Richman. Both performances took place in St. Paul, MN.
In addition, she spends a great deal of time working as a recording artist, playing and improvising on numerous pop and folk CD’s, as well as classical and commercial recordings.
She is a frequent sectional coach for Minnesota Youth Symphonies and Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies throughout the school year. Diane also coaches at the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies Summer String Camp. She teaches private students in her home and as an adjunct instructor at Northwestern University in St. Paul.
Diane has been a featured musician on A Prairie Home Companion. She has performed, recorded and toured to venues nationally and internationally with Minnesota artists; George Maurer, Peter Ostroushko, Robert Robinson, Mary Beth Carlson and Lorie Line. Diane has also performed live with a wide variety of renowned performers including ;( to name a few) Prince, Elton John Aretha Franklin, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Josh Groban and David Byrne. Also with bands such as, The Moody Blues, Mannheim Steamroller, The Beach Boys, Super Nova and Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
